Service Technician – Atlantic

Main Purpose of Job:
The Service Technician will be responsible for servicing and maintaining alarm systems for the domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an alarm technician
• Experience in programming, wiring, installations, and fault-finding

Job Requirements & Attributes:

• Valid driver’s license is essential
• PSIRA registration (Grade E) required
• Sound knowledge of alarm systems such as DSC, FBI, CADDX, IDS, Paradox, and Texecom
• Familiarity with CCTV, intercom systems, and access control systems
• Ability to work standby shifts as per the duty schedule

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical:

• Conduct service calls, maintenance, and repairs for alarm systems
• Program alarm panels according to specified standards
• Complete handovers and provide quotations for clients
• Fill out invoices and job cards after every service call
• Set up alarm systems for new clients
• Re-program alarm systems during system takeovers
• Perform small installations as required

Admin:

• Complete daily drive sheets
• Maintain accurate job reports and technical invoices
• Provide clients with quotes for system upgrades
• Perform vehicle, electrical, and ladder inspection checks, and provide feedback to the Field Line Manager (FLM)
• Conduct stock control checks and keep inventory up to date
• Ensure the company vehicle remains clean and well-maintained

Performance Standards

Technical:

• Ensure scheduled service calls are attended to or rescheduled as needed
• Alarm panels must be programmed in line with prescribed standards
• All documentation must be completed accurately and within the required timelines
• Alarm systems must meet ADT standards in programming and installation

Admin:

• Ensure accuracy when completing drive sheets, job reports, and technical invoices
• Provide accurate and timely quotes for clients
• Complete inspection checks on a weekly basis
• Ensure stock availability at all times and report missing stock to FLM
• Maintain cleanliness of the company vehicle at all times
