Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Midlands store in Pietermaritzburg has an opportunity for a Retail Store Assistant. This role involves assisting with the overall management of the store, ensuring that operational and administrative tasks are carried out according to company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP knowledge
• Retail experience

Responsibilities

• Handle customer compliments and complaints, ensuring they are reported to management
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
• Address and resolve customer stock queries efficiently
• Provide customers with feedback and assist them in finding the appropriate departments when needed
• Ensure adherence to the company’s customer turnover per hour benchmark
• Manage cash handling at the point of sale, including float management
• Oversee refund and return transactions, ensuring proper processing
• Ensure correct handling of back shopping and returned goods
• Verify and review deliveries and invoices for accuracy
• Assist the Receiving Manager with logging claims on the Distribution Centre claims system
• Monitor and control high-risk stock
• Prepare daily reconciliation reports
• Manage branch change requirements to ensure cashiers have adequate change for smooth operations
• Maintain effective communication with all relevant stakeholders
• Ensure proper document control, including float, petty cash, and cash on hand
