Description:

KFC is seeking a dynamic Restaurant General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our restaurant operations. This role involves coaching, developing, and motivating employees to create a positive and productive work culture. You will be responsible for driving business growth, delivering outstanding customer experiences, and ensuring adherence to KFC’s high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

People Management (30%):

  • Ensure all employees understand and embody KFC’s culture principles on every shift.
  • Manage staffing levels effectively using KFC’s Bench Planning process, ensuring optimal staffing at all times.
  • Utilize recruitment systems and tools, rigorously following legislative requirements.
  • Oversee new employee onboarding, induction, and training.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee files and training records.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and develop team members to build a robust talent pipeline.
  • Plan and facilitate regular management and team meetings.
  • Handle in-store employee relations issues, tracking team absence, and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Food Hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to company security procedures and manage team member disciplinary matters as needed.

Customer Service (20%):

  • Create a customer-focused environment appealing to KFC’s diverse customer base.
  • Complete compliance evaluations, address customer complaints per company policy, and review feedback reports to drive consistent improvement.
  • Follow up on Health Department audit issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Utilize company tools to maintain high customer service standards.

Sales (30%):

  • Maximize sales through exceptional operational standards and customer service.
  • Set bold sales goals, execute local marketing activities, and understand local competition.
  • Build a strong sales culture by setting clear sales targets and managing team member incentives.
  • Ensure points of sale are current and that team members are trained on new products.

Profit (20%):

  • Maximize profitability by controlling restaurant costs, forecasting sales, and managing labor.
  • Prepare and plan for Monthly Business Reviews with the Area Coach.
  • Utilize system reports and tools to ensure product availability and address discrepancies.
  • Conduct monthly financial audits and communicate results with an action plan for improvement.

General Duties:

  • Deputize for the Area Coach as needed and provide support to other KFC restaurants.
  • Attend area meetings and RGM ‘Round Tables’.
  • Manage new product rollouts and participate in area/regional projects.
  • Represent KFC at community and commercial events.
  • Embrace and implement new systems and processes, search for talent, and prepare and present business results at bi-annual RGM Stewardships.
  • Occasionally act as Manager on Duty (MOD).

Requirements:

  • Education: Completed Matric Certificate and a post-matric qualification (Diploma in Retail/Hospitality/Business Management).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of management experience in a restaurant or similar environment.
  • Skills: Strong commercial awareness, sales focus, basic HR/IR knowledge, customer orientation, communication skills, and presentation abilities. Demonstrated track record of developing people is essential.
