Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating members, ensuring best clinical practice and quality care while adhering to service level agreements.
Key Performance Areas:
- Determine appropriate treatment once diagnosed
- Perform administrative duties
Key Tasks:
Determine Appropriate Treatment:
- Establish the primary diagnosis based on signs and symptoms
- Identify and communicate the most suitable treatment plan according to Clinical Guidelines
- Provide accurate information on benefits and product knowledge to members
- Evaluate first-time resolution of member calls and escalate cases when necessary
- Encourage appropriate utilization of over-the-counter and acute medication benefits
- Educate members on medication side effects and provide advice on prescribed medication
Perform Administrative Duties:
- Improve areas identified by Quality Assurance
- Continuously develop skills and knowledge in the healthcare industry
- Maintain accurate clinical records in the system
- Provide effective communication to encourage behavioral change
- Schedule follow-up appointments and issue sick notes when clinically appropriate
- Adhere to time and attendance policies
Secondary Tasks / Activities:
- Prioritize and assess authorization requests for various healthcare services
- Ensure documentation and authorizations comply with protocols and guidelines
- Approve or decline benefits accurately according to protocols and benefit options
Requirements:
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Call center experience
- Dispensing Certificate
Essential Qualifications:
- Matric
- Nursing Diploma/Degree
Desirable Qualifications:
- Dispensing Certificate
Essential Experience:
- Experience in clinical evaluation of patient signs and symptoms
- Proficiency in IT system navigation
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in primary healthcare
- Call center experience
- Experience in issuing scripts and sick notes as per regulation
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good telephonic etiquette and listening skills
- Strong administration skills
- Knowledge in primary healthcare
- Strong organizational and time management skills
