SPAR is looking for a dynamic and experienced Regional Operations Executive to join our team in Nelspruit (Lowveld). This role is essential in driving the growth of retail profitability, sales, and market share by providing strategic leadership and support to the Build it team. Job Description:
The Regional Operations Executive will be responsible for strategically leading and managing the Build it team to optimize the performance of existing stores, develop new stores, and grow the Build it brand. The role includes providing effective retail consulting services to retailers, ensuring the implementation of national and regional strategies, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the regional Build it team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.
  • Participate in the general management duties of Build it and SPAR Regional teams.
  • Chair the Build it Regional Guild Committee and participate in the Build it National Guild Committee.
  • Build strong relationships with retailers, department heads, and senior management.
  • Develop and execute the regional retail operations strategy to drive business growth.
  • Provide leadership in new business development, store expansion, and retail best practices.
  • Assist retailers in developing store-specific strategies to grow their business and combat competition.
  • Ensure retail compliance with legislative requirements and audits.
  • Grow the Build it brand and expand the network of sustainable retail stores.
  • Implement national strategic projects and innovations to drive business forward.
  • Oversee the execution of Best Operating Procedures (BOP) in line with national standards.
  • Monitor and enhance retail operational support and service levels.
  • Manage the corporate identity of the Build it brand, ensuring compliance with store standards and design.
  • Present regional performance reports to the business.
  • Develop and manage regional budgets and cost centers.
  • Organize and lead all regional Build it events, including meetings and AGMs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) is a prerequisite.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Executive/Senior Management (Patterson EL/DU band).
  • At least 5 years of experience in the building and hardware retail industry.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • Proven track record of achieving operational objectives and meeting customer expectations.
  • High energy, self-starter with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong leadership, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
  • Emotional maturity and resilience.
  • Excellent computer literacy.
  • Ability to present to large crowds and speak publicly.
  • Valid driver’s license.
