Buco Vacancies – Regional Merchandise Manager – Polokwane

Job Overview:
BUCO is seeking an experienced Regional Merchandise Manager to oversee procurement and merchandising activities across the region. The successful candidate will develop and implement regional procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and ensure stock levels and promotions align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute regional procurement strategies in alignment with Group Procurement objectives and budgets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Category Managers and Product Specialists to execute category strategies, optimize opportunities, and address supply chain challenges.
  • Supplier Negotiations: Negotiate base prices, regional deals, forward orders, and key value item (KVI) pricing.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proactively manage relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including the Group Merchandising team, Store Managers, and Store Buyers.
  • Supplier Listing: Ensure all procedures for listing regional suppliers are followed.
  • Product Training: Coordinate product and supplier training sessions as needed.
  • Stock Management: Implement strategies to maintain optimal stock levels and ensure adherence to SOPs and best practices.
  • Stock File Integrity: Ensure stock file accuracy in accordance with guidelines.
  • Procurement Procedures: Ensure regional merchandising activities comply with all procedures and processes.
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct regular assessments to maintain business competitiveness.
  • Regional Promotions: Plan and execute regional promotions in line with business objectives.
  • Company Values: Uphold and promote BUCO’s company values and culture.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (NQF6) with a focus on Retail/Procurement (desirable)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a computerized retail environment (essential)
  • Experience at a middle management level (essential)
