Job Purpose:
To assist the Store Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the store and maintaining service excellence by driving sales and fostering customer loyalty. This role plays a key part in achieving sales, profit, and compliance targets, ensuring a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives:

  • Drive and maximize the store’s financial performance by executing promotional activities, cross-selling, up-selling, and delivering superior customer service across the store team.

  • Efficiently manage store operations, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage control, general housekeeping, and administration.

  • Ensure successful in-store visual merchandising that aligns with brand standards, maintaining store presentation and promotional displays.

  • Support the Store Manager in motivating and guiding staff to achieve performance targets, and manage the store in the absence of the Store Manager.

  • Assist the Store Manager with maintaining daily work schedules in line with the Group’s labor policy, ensuring all departments are adequately staffed.

  • Implement customer service initiatives that enhance the customer experience, foster customer loyalty, and achieve club card participation targets.

  • Handle administrative tasks efficiently, ensuring that time and attendance, along with employee records, are complete and submitted to HR.

  • Uphold the brand’s position as the first-choice health and beauty retailer by living and driving the company’s core values.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Essential: Grade 12 with 50% in Maths and English

  • Essential: Relevant Retail/Business Management qualification (for external applicants)

  • Desirable: Degree in Retail/Business Management

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an assistant store management role within a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme

  • Experience in financial management, including working with budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Job Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding and application of financial management principles

  • Retail/FMCG background with knowledge of merchandising and promotions

  • Experience in stock, cost, risk, and compliance management

  • Knowledge of customer service excellence standards

  • Familiarity with labor legislation and industrial relations practices

  • Skills in people management and competency-based interviewing

  • Strong numeracy, planning, and organizational abilities

  • Results and target-driven with effective problem-solving skills

  • Strong customer orientation and excellent communication skills

  • Proficient in computer literacy
