Job Description

The QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across FlySafair’s aircraft, maintenance activities, and operational processes. The role provides quality control oversight, supports audits and investigations, and contributes to the continuous improvement of the organisation’s Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control inspections on aircraft interiors, exteriors, parts, and maintenance tooling

• Prepare aircraft for Certificate of Airworthiness inspections, providing QC product oversight on domestic, regional, and international operations

• Perform and assist with investigations into operational occurrences

• Identify gaps within departmental quality control processes and recommend corrective actions

• Execute ad-hoc duties as assigned by the QA Manager

• Issue, control, and manage AMO certification approvals

• Support the QA Manager in chairing and participating in relevant meetings

• Attend maintenance, safety, compliance, operations, and aircraft survey meetings

• Assist with authorising and issuing company approvals for Technical and Flight Engineers

• Conduct random inspections during daily aircraft turnarounds, focusing on procedures and maintenance instructions

• During A-checks and higher, work closely with maintenance teams to ensure procedural compliance and task completion

• Perform random inspections of opened maintenance areas prior to close-up, considering prior adjustments

• Sample and review maintenance documentation for accuracy and completeness, including work packs, ATLRs, CRS, and CRMA

• Conduct quality audits on FlySafair departments, aircraft, facilities, and external service providers

• Compile and submit monthly reports on quality control activities

• Assist with the development, review, and amendment of quality-related procedures, manuals, and work instructions

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent

• Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, current or expired

• Quality Auditor and Lead Auditor certification, including Root Cause Analysis training

• Degree or Diploma in Quality Management is advantageous

• Safety Management Systems training is advantageous

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation auditing and the implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System across ORG, FLT, MNT, SEC, DSP, CAB, GRH, CGO scopes

• IOSA Auditor training experience is advantageous

• Technical aviation experience is advantageous

• Experience working with Safety Management Systems

• Product knowledge with preference for licensing or previous licensing on Boeing 737 aircraft and associated engines

• Strong understanding of SACAA regulations, including Parts 21, 43, 64, 66, 91, 121, 140, 141, 145, and 187 and associated technical standards

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
