Job Description

Mission:
The Account Manager is responsible for enabling successful service delivery to Business Units requiring Fixed Line Infrastructure, including EBU, National Wholesale, and BRC. This role ensures the achievement of strategic objectives through effective project management of tailored infrastructure solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Project Execution Planning:

  • Plan and execute national fixed line projects, ensuring optimal resource allocation to meet project goals.
  • Obtain project deliverables, such as order specifications and milestone dates, from the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate work allocation with TFLS Regional Managers and contractors according to contractual obligations.
  • Define and implement clear communication plans between stakeholders.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings to clarify customer requirements for fixed line infrastructure (Fibre, Microwave, Fixed LTE, 5G, etc.).

Project Execution Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation of approved BU orders nationwide.
  • Issue accurate Purchase Requisitions based on customer contracts.
  • Ensure FTTx and Microwave transmission links are delivered to EBU and National Wholesale customers within set deadlines and quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow actions to ensure timely completion according to project plans and SLAs.
  • Manage project CAPEX budgets and maintain documentation.
  • Effectively handle reverse logistics, including the decommissioning of equipment for reuse.

Project Risk Management:

  • Proactively identify risks to quality and schedule, and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Make operational decisions that prioritize the best interests of Business Unit customers.

Project Reporting:

  • Deliver weekly project progress reports and provide ad-hoc updates to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure high-quality and accurate reporting for TFLS Management and Executives.

Project Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with departments to ensure seamless integration of access technologies.
  • Ensure that contractors align with MTN’s values.
  • Attend scope change meetings and communicate their impact effectively.
  • Escalate issues to relevant stakeholders when necessary.

Project Close Out:

  • Participate in project close-out meetings to confirm deliverables are aligned with customer requirements.
  • Ensure efficient order close-out for the earliest realization of revenue.

Special Projects and Support:

  • Manage special projects within the Technical Enterprise Project department when required.
  • Assist head office during tender evaluations and with incoming RFP responses.
  • Support field trials and POCs for new supplier solutions.
  • Contribute to process optimization initiatives with Project Managers and Process Analysts.

Qualifications:

  • Matric and N6, S4, or equivalent National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or IT.
  • Preferred: Prince2 Practitioner Certification, PMP, or Project Management certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably in Radio & Transmission Implementation.
  • Strong project management experience is advantageous.
