Our Jab Smart project, launched in 2017, focuses on addressing the high risk of HIV among people who use drugs (PWUD) in the Johannesburg Metro area. PWUDs often face significant stigma and prejudice, impacting their access to essential health services. Jab Smart is a peer-led initiative offering a range of harm reduction services, implemented in partnership with the COJ Health District and supported by Global Fund through NACOSA.
We are seeking experienced Professional Nurses to join our team and provide high-quality HIV Testing Services (HTS) and outreach support in local communities. Key Responsibilities:
- Transport and Logistics:
- Ensure safe transportation to and from outreach sites and manage the mobile clinic or work vehicle.
- Maintain fuel, mileage, and maintenance records as per Anova’s policies.
- Handle equipment, such as tents and generators, with care, and report any damages.
- Comply with National Road Traffic Act regulations and Anova’s vehicle safety policies.
- Provide weekly vehicle inspection reports and submit incident reports as needed.
- Outreach Support:
- Deliver holistic HTS services following national guidelines.
- Facilitate linkages to care for newly diagnosed HIV-positive clients, ensuring timely ART initiation.
- Support harm reduction efforts, including waste management and infection control.
- Encourage PWUDs to access healthcare services, including STI screenings.
- Maintain adequate HTS supplies for outreach and ensure proper storage during fieldwork.
- Administrative Duties:
- Complete client data accurately and submit daily.
- Ensure compliance with DoH HTS register and report high-quality HTS data.
- Address data queries promptly and support project targets.
- Submit timesheets and other required documentation on time.
- Maintain professional conduct in all interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or diploma as a Professional Nurse.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- NIMART (Nurse Initiated Management of ART) certification (mandatory).
- Valid Driver’s Licence with PDP and at least 3 years’ driving experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS counselling and testing.
- Familiarity with HIV management guidelines, TB, and PMTCT.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on confidentiality and attention to detail.
