What Will You Do?

As the Product Area Lead: Group Data & ML Platform Tribe, you will:

  • Drive the strategic development and delivery of data and machine learning products across the Sanlam Group.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and implement data-driven solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure platform capabilities meet stakeholder needs, enhancing operational efficiency and delivering measurable value.
  • Lead the design and execution of scalable, secure, and reliable data and ML platforms.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within your team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Group Data & ML Platform Tribe.
  • Align platform initiatives with Sanlam’s digital transformation objectives.
  • Champion data and ML best practices across the organization.

Product Development and Delivery:

  • Manage the full product lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and beyond.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration with business processes.
  • Continuously monitor platform performance and implement improvements based on insights.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Partner with business units, data scientists, and IT teams to gather and prioritize requirements.
  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Team and Capability Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team.
  • Create a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages skill-sharing and growth.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure all initiatives comply with regulatory, security, and governance standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of platform processes and workflows.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in data platforms, machine learning, or similar fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Strong expertise in data governance, ML frameworks, and platform architecture.
