Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to serve as the primary liaison between Anova stakeholders and suppliers. This role involves overseeing the procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with procurement best practices, and providing leadership to the Procurement Team. The Procurement Specialist will work closely with the Head of Business Operations to streamline procurement processes, monitor supplier performance, and drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Compliance Management
- Manage the Procurement function to ensure timely support to the business.
- Implement procurement policies and procedures to meet audit and funder requirements.
- Ensure adherence to BBBEE scorecard requirements for maximum procurement verification points.
- Maintain and manage the preferred supplier list for goods and services procured by Anova.
- Oversee insurance schedules for all assets and ensure timely annual renewals.
- Meet KPIs and performance expectations set by the Head of Business Operations.
- Streamline procurement processes to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance efficiency.
- Maintain a robust filing and storage system in line with compliance standards.
- Lead the preparation of bid specifications, tender advertising, and evaluation packs.
- Monitor market trends, identify areas for improvement, and alert management of anomalies.
Team Management
- Supervise and manage the day-to-day activities of the Procurement Team.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the team.
- Assess team capacity, allocate work, and address escalations from stakeholders and suppliers.
- Identify training and development needs within the team.
- Conduct performance reviews in line with Anova’s performance cycles.
- Handle additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Business Operations.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required
- B.Com degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and excellent decision-making skills.
- Experience managing SLA agreements, SOPs, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and financial systems.
- Familiarity with Supply Management Software (Database Management).
- Aptitude for market analysis and procurement sourcing techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (proficiency in other official languages is an advantage).
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Diploma (CIPS).
- Proven track record in managing SLA agreements and developing procurement SOPs.
- Strong understanding of BBBEE codes and legislation.
- Advanced skills in Excel and negotiation.
- Effective communicator with strong leadership capabilities.
