DisChem Vacancies – Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant-Three Rivers-Vereeniging

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for the Three Rivers store in Vereeniging. The role includes providing pharmaceutical care by meeting patients’ medication needs while ensuring compliance with professional and legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Experience working with Unisolv
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Fluency in English and a second language
  • Ability to work retail hours

Advantageous

  • Experience in retail or FMCG operations
  • Fluency in a third language
  • Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting
  • Understanding of drug and family planning, as well as complementary medicine

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines
  • Support the compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
  • Assist in manufacturing and re-packaging non-sterile medicines
  • Manage stock control and distribution of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
  • Process medicine orders, including Schedule 6, as per authorized instructions
  • Read, prepare, and dispense prescriptions accurately
  • Capture prescription details and verify patient information in the system
  • Ensure accurate labeling, picking, and checking of medication while monitoring dosages and drug interactions
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on medication usage
  • Stay informed about medical aid claim procedures and ensure accurate claim submissions
  • Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by a pharmacist
  • Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication section, and front shop
  • Follow up with patients regarding prescription tracking and scheduled appointments
  • Explain medical aid costs and assist with claim rejections
  • Maintain and update patient profiles in the system
  • Report stock shortages and discrepancies to the dispensary manager
  • Receive and merchandise dispensary stock according to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures
  • Assist in bi-annual stock takes and stock control processes
