DisChem Vacancies – Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant-Fixed Term Contract-Krugersdorp

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant on a fixed-term contract for the Krugersdorp store. The role involves providing pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medication needs are met, and complying with professional and legal requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Experience working with Unisolv
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Fluency in English and a second language
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous

  • Experience in retail or FMCG operations
  • Fluency in a third language
  • Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting
  • Familiarity with drug and family planning, as well as complementary medicine

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines
  • Support compounding and preparation of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
  • Help with re-packaging and manufacturing of non-sterile medicines
  • Manage stock control and distribution of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
  • Process medicine orders, including Schedule 6, as per authorized instructions
  • Read, prepare, and dispense prescriptions accurately
  • Capture prescription details and verify patient information in the system
  • Ensure accurate labeling, picking, and checking of medication while monitoring dosages and drug interactions
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on medication usage
  • Stay informed about medical aid claim procedures and ensure accurate claim submissions
  • Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by a pharmacist
  • Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication section, and front shop
  • Follow up with patients regarding prescription tracking and scheduled appointments
  • Explain medical aid costs and assist with claim rejections
  • Maintain and update patient profiles in the system
  • Report stock shortages and discrepancies to the dispensary manager
  • Receive and merchandise dispensary stock according to Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures
  • Assist in bi-annual stock takes and stock control processes
