Dischem Vacancies – Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistance
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join our team at the Carnival store. In this role, you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care by assisting in fulfilling patients’ medicine-related needs while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric
- Post Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Working experience with Unisolv
- Strong command of English and a second language
- Willingness to work retail hours
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
- Third additional language
- Knowledge of or experience with SAP and E-Scripting
- Understanding of drug and family planning, as well as complementary medicine
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Aid in the compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines as per approved formulas and SOPs.
- Support the manufacturing of non-sterile medicines, ensuring adherence to the responsible pharmacist’s standards.
- Assist with the re-packaging, distribution, and control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Support the ordering of medicines and scheduled substances up to Schedule 6, under the guidance of authorized personnel.
- Help in reading and preparing prescriptions, selecting and compounding medications, labeling, and supplying them after evaluation by a pharmacist.
- Accurately capture script details and verify patient information in the system.
- Ensure proper picking, packing, and labeling of medications, paying attention to common dosages and drug interactions.
- Provide clear instructions to patients on the correct use of prescribed medication.
- Keep updated on medical aid procedures for claims and dispensing.
- Advise patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop.
- Assist with script tracking, explaining medical aid costs, and correcting rejected scripts.
- Maintain customer profiles and address any issues as they arise.
- Report low/out-of-stock items and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
- Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and ensure adherence to stock control procedures.
