Job Purpose:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the dispensary and clinic while leading and directing the pharmacy team to deliver high standards of pharmaceutical care. The role focuses on achieving sales and compliance targets to gain a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives:

  • Provide high standards of pharmaceutical care by ensuring accurate and safe dispensing, including generic substitution, and offering professional advice in accordance with Clicks’ standards, good pharmacy practice, and the legal scope of practice outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

  • Manage all operational activities within the dispensary, including responsible stock management, shrinkage control, housekeeping, and administration, while adhering to merchandising standards, SAPC regulations, and company policies.

  • Ensure the operational viability of the dispensary by focusing on core targets, managing expenses, and taking proactive action to achieve performance goals.

  • Lead and motivate the pharmacy team, including learners and interns, ensuring effective selection, leadership, management, and continuous development to meet current and future business needs.

  • Schedule staff in line with labor policies and the relevant labor model to ensure adequate staffing across departments, while ensuring time and attendance records are accurately maintained and submitted to HR.

  • Manage customer service initiatives in the dispensary to enhance the customer experience, foster customer loyalty, and achieve club card participation targets.

  • Promote integration and collaboration between the dispensary, clinic, and healthcare aisle to offer customers a complete healthcare service.

  • Support the Group’s vision to be the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer by upholding and driving the company values.

  • Foster cohesion and consistency across the store, pharmacy, and clinic teams to create a high-performing business culture that delivers employee affiliation, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value.

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience:

  • Essential: Registered Pharmacist with SAPC

  • Essential: Minimum of 2 years’ experience post-community service

  • Essential: Minimum of 1 year of people management experience

  • Essential: Registration with SAPC as the Responsible Pharmacist

  • Desirable: Retail pharmacy experience

  • Desirable: Experience with Unisolv

Job Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of SAPC regulations and relevant legal requirements

  • Knowledge of ethical working practices and compliance

  • Proficient in stock, cost, risk, and compliance management

  • Expertise in patient care and professional counseling

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Understanding of labor legislation and industrial relations practices

  • Sound financial management skills

  • Knowledge of competency-based interviewing

  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and coaching abilities

  • Results-driven with excellent planning and organizational skills

Contractual Hours:
45 hours per week, 6 days
