Job Objectives:
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for providing high standards of pharmaceutical care, ensuring accurate and safe dispensing, including generic substitution, and offering advice in accordance with Clicks’ operating procedures, good pharmacy practices, and within the legal scope as outlined by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and controlling all operational activities of the dispensary, including stock management, shrinkage prevention, general housekeeping, and administration in compliance with SAPC regulations and company standards.

  • Ensuring the financial viability of the dispensary by focusing on key financial targets, managing expenses, and proactively addressing challenges as they arise.

  • Leading, motivating, and developing employees, including learners and interns, by providing effective selection, leadership, and ongoing training to build a capable team.

  • Scheduling staff in line with the company’s labour policies and relevant models, ensuring adequate staffing levels across departments and accurate submission of time and attendance records to HR.

  • Managing customer service initiatives that result in a positive customer experience, foster loyalty, and drive club card participation targets.

  • Collaborating with the clinic and healthcare aisle teams to ensure a comprehensive healthcare offering for customers.

  • Supporting the company’s vision of becoming the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer by aligning with and promoting company values.

  • Promoting cohesion and integration between the pharmacy, clinic, and store teams.

  • Cultivating a high-performance business culture that enhances employee satisfaction, customer loyalty, and shareholder value.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of SAPC regulations and legal requirements

  • Ethical working practices and compliance with industry standards

  • Expertise in stock management, cost control, risk management, and compliance procedures

  • Knowledge of patient care and professional counseling

  • Strong customer service knowledge

  • Understanding of labour legislation and industrial relations practices

  • Proficient in financial management principles

  • Familiarity with competency-based interviewing techniques

Experience:

  • Essential: Minimum 2 years’ experience post-community service

  • Essential: Minimum 1 year of people management experience

  • Essential: Registration as a Responsible Pharmacist with SAPC

  • Desirable: Retail pharmacy experience

  • Desirable: Experience with Unisolve
