Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reputable and qualified Pharmacist to join our Somerset Mall team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients’ medicine-related needs are met with the highest standard of service and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pharmaceutical care by assessing and addressing patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring therapy safety, efficacy, and compliance.
- Dispense prescribed medications and scheduled substances, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal requirements.
- Review and sign off on prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring compliance with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) standards.
- Provide guidance and information on the correct use of medicines to patients.
- Monitor patient adherence to therapy and follow up as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes.
- Conduct pharmacist-initiated therapy, and supervise the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medications.
- Oversee the procurement, storage, and sale of medicines, ensuring compliance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
- Accurately interpret and capture prescription details, and manage patient profiles on the system.
- Handle medical aid claims, ensuring accurate submissions and corrections of any errors.
- Assist patients with inquiries at the dispensary and provide professional advice on self-medication.
- Manage stock levels, report discrepancies, and participate in bi-annual stock takes.
- Ensure adherence to Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, and Health and Safety standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Certification: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience:
- 2-3 years in Pharmaceutical practice
- 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (including internship)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lead, train, and manage a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in retail/FMCG environments
- Knowledge of SAP and E-scripting
- Experience as a registered tutor
- Familiarity with Unisolv
