Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at the Mall of Africa store. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients’ medicine-related needs are effectively addressed with the highest level of accountability and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pharmaceutical care by evaluating and addressing patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of therapies.
- Accurately dispense medications and scheduled substances as prescribed, complying with all legal and ethical standards.
- Review and verify prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, taking full responsibility for their accuracy.
- Offer expert advice to patients on the correct use of medications, ensuring they are well-informed.
- Monitor patient adherence to prescribed treatments and follow up to ensure optimal health outcomes.
- Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy, and oversee the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medications.
- Manage the procurement, storage, and distribution of medications in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
- Process and accurately capture prescription details, maintaining up-to-date patient profiles.
- Handle medical aid claims, ensuring accurate submission and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Assist patients with inquiries at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop.
- Manage stock levels, report discrepancies, and participate in regular stock takes.
- Ensure strict adherence to Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, and Health and Safety standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric, BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Certification: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (including internship)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong communication skills in English and a second language
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Leadership and supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in retail/FMCG
- Proficiency in SAP and E-scripting systems
- Experience as a registered tutor
- Familiarity with Unisolv
