Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reputable and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at the Eastgate store. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients’ medicine-related needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pharmaceutical Care: Take responsibility for evaluating patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of prescribed therapies.
- Dispensing: Accurately dispense medicines or scheduled substances as prescribed, and ensure all prescriptions are correctly checked and signed off.
- Patient Guidance: Provide clear information and advice on the use of medicines, ensuring patient compliance with therapies.
- Medication Management: Oversee the compounding, preparation, packaging, and manufacturing of medicines, ensuring all processes meet regulatory standards.
- Stock Control: Manage the purchasing, storage, and distribution of medicines, including handling Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 substances.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act, including the registration and re-packaging of medicines.
- Customer Service: Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop, providing exceptional service and follow-up care.
- Medical Aid Coordination: Process claims accurately, correct errors, and ensure authorization for chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medications.
- Administration: Support the Dispensary Manager with administrative tasks, stock control, and bi-annual stock takes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric, BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Certification: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of pharmaceutical experience
- 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (including student or intern roles)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong command of English and a second language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in retail/FMCG environments
- Familiarity with SAP and E-scripting systems
- Registered tutor
- Experience with Unisolv

Special Conditions of Employment:
