Dischem Vacancies – Pharmacist
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and experienced Pharmacist for our Clearwater store. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, addressing patients’ medication needs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric certificate
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy settings (including student/intern experience)
- Proficiency in MS Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Retail/FMCG experience
- Knowledge of SAP and e-scripting
- Registered tutor
- Experience with Unisolv
- A third additional language
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pharmaceutical care by evaluating patients’ medication needs, ensuring safety and efficacy, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Check and sign off on all prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.
- Offer advice and information to patients on medication use, dosage, and side effects.
- Ensure patient compliance with therapy through follow-ups and consultations.
- Conduct pharmacist-initiated therapy where applicable.
- Manage medication compounding, preparation, and repackaging.
- Oversee purchasing, storage, and sale of medications according to legal requirements.
- Accurately capture script details, verify patient information, and process medical aid claims.
- Resolve script rejections and address medical aid requirements.
- Ensure proper stock control, reporting low/out-of-stock items, and participating in bi-annual stock takes.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service at the dispensary and self-medication counter.
- Promote public health and engage in pharmaceutical research and development when required.

- Strong command of English, with proficiency in a second language.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic dosing and common drug interactions.
- Leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise staff.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical skills.
- Ability to manage conflict and work under pressure.
- Team-oriented and trustworthy.
- Time management and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
