Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at the Cosmo City store. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring that all patients’ medicine-related needs are met with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pharmaceutical Care: Evaluate and address patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness of prescribed therapies.
- Dispensing: Accurately dispense medicines and scheduled substances, ensuring that all prescriptions are correctly checked and signed off in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Patient Interaction: Provide clear and accurate advice on the use of medicines, ensuring patient compliance with prescribed therapies and following up as needed.
- Medication Management: Oversee the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medicines, maintaining strict adherence to legal and professional standards.
- Stock Control: Manage the purchasing, storage, and distribution of medicines, including Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 substances, ensuring proper stock control and inventory management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act, including the registration, re-packaging, and distribution of medicines.
- Customer Service: Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring follow-up care as needed.
- Medical Aid Coordination: Accurately process medical aid claims, correct errors, and ensure authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
- Administrative Support: Assist the Dispensary Manager with administrative tasks, including stock takes, maintaining registers, and ensuring all processes adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric, BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Certification: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical setting
- 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (including student or intern roles)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong command of English and a second language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Retail/FMCG experience
- SAP and E-scripting system experience
- Registered tutor
- Familiarity with Unisolv
