Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join our Blomtuin store. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients’ medicine-related needs are met efficiently and effectively while adhering to all regulatory and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pharmaceutical Care: Assess and manage patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety, efficacy, and appropriateness of prescribed therapies.
- Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications and scheduled substances, verify prescriptions, and ensure compliance with legal and professional requirements.
- Patient Interaction: Provide clear guidance on the correct use of medications, monitor patient adherence, and conduct follow-up consultations as necessary.
- Medication Management: Oversee the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medicines in line with legal and professional standards.
- Stock Control: Manage the purchasing, storage, and distribution of medications, including Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 substances, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities align with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act, including medicine registration and distribution.
- Customer Service: Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop, providing excellent customer service and ensuring follow-up care.
- Medical Aid Coordination: Process medical aid claims, correct errors, and ensure the authorization of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
- Administrative Support: Assist the Dispensary Manager with administrative tasks, including stock takes, maintaining registers, and ensuring adherence to Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric, BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Certification: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical setting
- 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (including student or intern roles)
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong command of English and a second language
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in retail/FMCG
- SAP and E-scripting system experience
- Registered tutor
- Familiarity with Unisolv
