DisChem Vacancies – Pharmacist Assistant – Bryanpark

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and reputable Pharmacist Assistant to join our team at the Bryanpark store. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring that patients receive the correct medication and guidance to meet their healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pharmaceutical Support:
  • Assist in the sale and preparation of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines, including the compounding, manipulation, and manufacturing of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and procedures.
  • Support the distribution and control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines, and assist with ordering Schedule 6 substances as authorized.
• Prescription Management:
  • Accurately interpret, prepare, and process prescriptions, ensuring the correct selection, labeling, and supply of medicines.
  • Capture and verify prescription details on the system, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and checking of medication.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions regarding the correct use of their medications.
• Patient Care:
  • Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, as well as with self-medication and front-shop queries.
  • Explain medical aid costs to patients and process the necessary paperwork for accurate claims submission.
  • Maintain and manage patient profiles on the system, ensuring all necessary actions are taken based on customer profile messages.
• Stock Management:
  • Monitor stock levels, report low stock and errors to the dispensary manager, and assist with stock control.
  • Receive, manage, and merchandise stock in accordance with Dis-Chem’s SOPs and FEFO principles.
  • Assist in bi-annual stock takes and ensure the proper control of stock, cash, and assets.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Proficiency in Unisolv.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in English and a second language.
  • Willingness to work retail hours.
• Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations.
  • Proficiency in a third language.
  • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.
  • Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine.
