DisChem Vacancies – Pharmacist Assistant – Blue Route

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a dedicated and qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join our Blueroute store. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medication-related needs are met with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pharmaceutical Support:
    • Assist in the sale, compounding, and preparation of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines, as well as non-sterile medications, following approved formulas and procedures.
    • Support the distribution and control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines, and assist with the ordering of Schedule 6 substances under authorized instructions.
  • Prescription Management:
    • Accurately interpret, prepare, and process prescriptions, ensuring correct selection, labeling, and supply of medications.
    • Capture and verify prescription details on the system, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and checking of medication.
    • Provide patients with clear and precise instructions on the correct use of their medication.
  • Patient Care:
    • Offer advice and assistance to patients at the dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop areas.
    • Explain medical aid costs and assist with the processing of claims and paperwork.
    • Maintain and manage patient profiles on the system, ensuring all necessary actions are taken.
  • Stock Management:
    • Monitor stock levels, report low stock and errors to the dispensary manager, and assist with stock control.
    • Receive, manage, and merchandise stock in accordance with Dis-Chem’s SOPs and FEFO principles.
    • Participate in bi-annual stock takes and ensure proper control of stock, cash, and assets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • Experience with Unisolv.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office).
    • Strong numerical skills.
    • Proficiency in English and a second language.
    • Willingness to work retail hours.
  • Advantageous:
    • Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations.
    • Proficiency in a third language.
    • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.
    • Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
    • Trustworthy, honest, and capable of managing time effectively.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Advantageous:
    • Familiarity with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting.
    • Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods.
