Key Responsibilities
As People Lead, your role will involve the following key responsibility areas:
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement people strategies aligned with business goals.
- Act as a strategic advisor to management on workforce planning, talent development, and organizational growth.
- Stay updated on industry trends to ensure competitive talent management practices.
- Provide guidance on employee development, team dynamics, and organizational change.
- Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, and Offboarding:
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, ensuring alignment with company culture and diversity goals.
- Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for smooth transitions.
- Support hiring managers with workforce planning, probation tracking, and succession planning.
- Conduct exit interviews and ensure efficient processing of termination documentation.
- Performance Management and Employee Relations:
- Implement a performance management system that promotes continuous feedback and aligns with business objectives.
- Advise on employee relations issues, including conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary procedures, ensuring legal compliance.
- Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries and facilitate conflict resolution.
- Support managers in navigating performance issues and team dynamics through coaching and best practices.
- Training, Development, and Employee Engagement:
- Design and implement training programs to foster employee development and career growth.
- Lead mentorship programs to enhance leadership skills and retain talent.
- Conduct succession planning to develop future leaders.
- Implement employee engagement initiatives such as surveys, feedback systems, and recognition programs to improve workplace culture.
- HR Compliance and Policy Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies in compliance with employment laws and industry standards.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and employment equity requirements.
- Maintain accurate HR records, including employee files, job descriptions, and documentation of disciplinary actions.
- Lead Employment Equity compliance efforts, including training, meetings, and annual reporting.
- Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Management:
- Administer payroll processes and manage compensation programs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee employee benefits programs, including health plans, retirement savings, and wellness initiatives.
- Lead salary reviews and bonus allocations, ensuring fairness and competitiveness.
- Support employees with benefits-related inquiries and ensure efficient benefits administration.
- HR Operations and Strategic Partnering:
- Develop and maintain HR processes that align with the company’s culture and legal requirements.
- Provide strategic HR advice and guidance to managers, using data to inform workforce planning, retention, and development.
- Facilitate job grading processes and manage role clarity frameworks, ensuring up-to-date job profiles aligned with industry standards.
- Lead initiatives that improve HR operational efficiency and continuously improve HR tools, processes, and systems.
Requirements
To be considered for the People Lead position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a SaaS environment, with exposure to Industrial Relations.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour laws and employment regulations.
- Experience in HR compliance planning, including Employment Equity and WSP/ATR skills submissions.
- Proven experience leading and implementing HR strategies at an organizational level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to foster trust, transparency, and collaboration across the organization.
- Passion for driving people development strategies and initiatives.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing needs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to develop and try new approaches.
- Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
