Food Lovers Market is looking for a passionate and innovative People Lead to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping our company culture, driving employee engagement, and ensuring that our workforce thrives in a fulfilling and supportive work environment. You will work closely with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with our business vision of delivering excellence in every aspect of our operations. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategy
    • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute people strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Act as a strategic advisor to management on workforce planning, talent development, and organizational growth.
    • Monitor industry trends to ensure competitive talent management practices.
    • Lead change management and employee development initiatives, fostering an engaged workforce.
  2. Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, and Offboarding
    • Oversee the full recruitment cycle, ensuring alignment with company culture and diversity goals.
    • Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes for a seamless transition of employees.
    • Provide guidance on hiring, probation tracking, and succession planning.
    • Conduct exit interviews and handle termination processes efficiently.
  3. Performance Management and Employee Relations
    • Implement a performance management system focused on continuous feedback and alignment with business goals.
    • Advise on employee relations matters, handling grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary procedures.
    • Be the primary contact for employee inquiries, resolving issues and maintaining positive relationships.
    • Support managers with performance-related challenges and team dynamics coaching.
  4. Training, Development, and Employee Engagement
    • Design and implement training programs to support employee development and career progression.
    • Lead mentorship initiatives to foster leadership skills and employee retention.
    • Implement employee engagement programs, including surveys, feedback, and recognition initiatives.
  5. HR Compliance and Policy Management
    • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies ensuring compliance with employment laws and industry standards.
    • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and employment equity requirements.
    • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation related to employee files and disciplinary actions.
    • Oversee Employment Equity compliance and reporting.
  6. Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Management
    • Manage payroll processes and ensure timely and accurate compensation administration.
    • Oversee employee benefits programs, including health, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
    • Lead salary reviews and bonus allocations, ensuring fairness and market competitiveness.
  7. HR Operations and Strategic Partnering
    • Develop HR processes that align with company culture and legal requirements.
    • Provide strategic HR advice to management, utilizing HR data for workforce planning and development decisions.
    • Lead job grading and role clarity initiatives to ensure aligned job profiles.
    • Drive improvements in HR systems, tools, and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Experience in leading HR strategies at the organizational level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, building relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
