PepsiCo Vacancies – Payroll Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining payroll integrity across multiple business units. The ideal candidate will manage payroll processing, handle tax deductions, and provide accurate payroll reporting while ensuring exceptional employee service and internal control compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Administration:
    • Oversee and manage all payroll functions, including financial records, employee compensation, bonuses, earnings, and deductions.
    • Administer payroll for employees, expats, and independent contractors using a payroll management system.
  • Compliance and Control:
    • Ensure compliance with HR and financial policies, as well as relevant legal requirements (BCEA, PAYE, UIF, WCA, etc.).
    • Manage payroll taxes, including filing EMP201 with SARS and processing tax directives.
    • Conduct payroll reconciliations (payroll, general ledger, banking, UIF, SDL, PAYE) and ensure the accuracy of financial postings.
  • Reporting and Reconciliation:
    • Provide payroll-related reports, including leave and bonus provisions, FI expenses, allowances, and tax amounts.
    • Submit statutory declarations and reports, such as COIDA.
  • Process Management:
    • Handle complex payroll inquiries and provide support related to employee compensation and benefits.
    • Implement internal controls, monitor effectiveness, and address any deficiencies in payroll operations.
    • Maintain payroll control documents for audit compliance.
  • People Management:
    • Manage the performance of payroll staff by setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating employee development.
    • Handle employee relations, including communication, performance management, grievances, and dispute resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Commerce Degree required, post-graduate qualification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Over 10 years of experience in payroll and accounting, ideally within the FMCG industry.
    • In-depth experience with relevant SAP modules and payroll technology systems.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Expert knowledge of labor laws (BCEA, PAYE, UIF), HR and finance policies, and collective agreements.
    • Strong organizational knowledge, with experience managing payroll for diverse business units.
    • People management experience with a focus on development, performance, and employee relations.
