SAB Vacancies – Packaging Machine Specialist
SAB is seeking a Packaging Machine Specialist to maintain, repair, and optimize packaging machinery and associated devices. This role is crucial for ensuring plant availability and product quality at a minimal cost while maintaining the highest standards. The Packaging Machine Specialist provides operational support, participates in planned and routine maintenance, and carries out running repairs.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Operational Support
- Offer specialist support for coaching and mentoring shift-based teams in machine operation.
- Assist as a functional expert in problem-solving and plant optimization trials.
- Provide additional support to process artisans for machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes.
- Planned Maintenance
- Participate in maintenance planning meetings, providing suggestions and clarifying work requirements.
- Execute work during planned maintenance windows according to the maintenance schedule.
- Contribute to maintenance postmortems to feedback on problems, opportunities, and learnings.
- Routine Maintenance
- Participate in cleaning, lubrication, and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
- Address any issues uncovered during routine maintenance using appropriate problem-solving techniques.
- Communicate any required work to the Maintenance Planner for inclusion in future schedules.
- Housekeeping and Safety
- Always operate in a safe manner and identify unsafe work practices for correction.
- Follow AB-InBev policies and procedures and apply 5S principles during duty execution.
- Present 5S plans to the team and management when required.
- Running Repairs
- Perform running repairs on plant and equipment, or support Shift Artisans in carrying out repairs.
- Assess problems and determine the best course of action, calling in specialist assistance when needed.
- Complete administration tasks related to running repairs, including all SAP inputs.
- Problem Solving
- Apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve issues during routine activities.
- Assist fellow team members in resolving problems and take part in AB-Reports, SDCA, and PDCA as needed.
Profile Requirements
- N6 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher qualification.
- Trade test qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Millwright.
- Experience managing machines according to VPO principles and standards.
- Logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- A team player with initiative and energy.
- Knowledge or experience working in a production environment, preferably in FMCG.
