Job Description
Anova Health Institute, an NGO dedicated to empowering people and improving lives through healthcare solutions, is seeking a skilled Monitoring & Evaluation Manager. This role is crucial for coordinating data collection, quality control, reporting, and capacity building at district and sub-district levels. The successful candidate will lead district data management, support health facility HMIS, and engage with Anova Parktown Data Management and Analytics teams. Key responsibilities include contributing to the APACE project’s strategic design and overseeing data analysis and reporting activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee routine reporting into DATIM and support District Management teams with data quality narratives.
- Promote data-driven decision-making at various program implementation levels.
- Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly data quality audits (DQAs) in collaboration with program managers, district technical support, and M&E officers.
- Maintain standard health data information systems (HIS) such as TIER.Net, PHCIS, and Prehmis across Anova-supported sites.
- Provide onsite training, remedial plans, and problem resolution at facility levels.
- Supervise M&E officers and manage day-to-day data capturing teams.
- Coordinate facility data capturing teams and address data quality issues.
- Schedule and prepare M&E content for funder site visits.
- Provide ongoing M&E technical assistance to Anova APACE staff, sub-grantees, DOH, and community partners.
- Coordinate sub-district performance review meetings and monitor remedial actions.
- Review workplan implementation with Programme Managers.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with DOH, funded organizations, and Provincial Sectoral Departments.
- Represent Anova at DOH HAST Directorate and community meetings and forums.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
- Over 4 years of training or work experience in monitoring & evaluation, data management, public health, or related fields.
- At least 5 years of experience with health indicators, M&E, and data quality reporting to DOH or PEPFAR.
- Proficiency with DHIS, Health Systems, ETR.NET, DATIM, and health indicators.
- Experience in M&E capacity building for facility-level data capturing teams.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Exceptional communication and report writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- Proactive and collaborative work style with all organizational levels.
- Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Excel.
- Knowledge of best practices in monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in a clinical research environment and implementing M&E plans.
- Familiarity with South Africa’s public-sector health information systems.
