Position Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled Millwright (Multi Engineering Trade) to join our team. This role involves maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and standard operating procedures, all aimed at optimizing equipment availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repair: Maintain and repair the electrical and mechanical systems of port machinery, ensuring reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This will help the Terminal meet its safety, production, and cost-control objectives.
- Fault Finding: Efficiently identify and resolve equipment breakdowns during rotational shift duties, minimizing stoppages and maintaining high service levels and production targets.
- Support Electrical Teams: Assist electrical personnel in troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance tasks to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
- Skill Development: Mentor apprentices, colleagues, and subordinates through skill transfer and knowledge sharing, fostering continuous development within the Terminal team.
- System Testing: Regularly inspect and test mechanical systems to ensure optimal functioning and safe conditions for Terminal equipment.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations, taking corrective action as necessary to maintain compliance and a safe work environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of solutions for repetitive failures and plant improvement projects, driving productivity and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NQF 4 Qualification with Maths, Science, and Engineering Drawing.
- Minimum NTC II and Millwright Dual Trade Certificate.
- 3 to 5 years of plant maintenance experience.
- Code EB Driver’s License.
Added Advantage:
- Code of Practice 29.
- Certificate of Competence for Forklifts/Cranes.
- C Green Certificate.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Straddle Carriers (preferred).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematic drawings and workshop manuals.
- Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and electronics systems.
- Familiarity with the maintenance process within TPT (preferred).
- Knowledge of Terminal layouts and equipment locations (preferred).
