Tiger Brands Vacancies – Millwright (Bakeries)
Tiger Brands is looking for an experienced Millwright (Bakeries) to provide maintenance services for plant machinery and site utilities within the processing and packaging departments. This role ensures maximum production capacity through plant availability and requires work on a rotational shift or day shift basis on the factory floor.
Responsibilities:
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mixers, proofers, moulders, conveyors, ovens, coolers, and slicing machinery.
- Conduct minor maintenance on site services, including boilers, air compressors, chillers, and air dryers.
- Carry out inspections on plant machinery and site utilities.
- Diagnose electrical and instrumentation faults using multimeters, infrared scanners, electrical drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults using mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and OEM support.
- Perform root cause failure analysis for all breakdowns.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (DMS) to create and close job cards, manage store requisitions, and track artisan utilization.
- Complete daily production, quality, and maintenance reports.
- Address occupational health, safety, and food safety compliance requirements.
- Support site initiatives for water, energy, and fuel efficiency.
- Assist the Maintenance Coordinator and Manager in developing action plans to minimize downtime and product damage.
- Participate in daily and weekly engineering meetings.
Requirements:
- N3 qualification and Millwright Trade Test (N6 is an advantage).
- At least five years of experience in an FMCG environment (bakery experience preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work under pressure with excellent communication and service-oriented skills.
- Strategic and innovative thinking with strong planning and execution capabilities.
- Knowledge of food processing equipment and compliance with statutory requirements.
