Key Responsibilities

Populate cost cards and ensure costings are updated accurately and on time before the Price Proposal stage. Inform the Merchandiser once the task is completed. Meeting deadline dates is critical.

Record styling changes during the cost negotiation stage between the Merchandiser and Buyer, ensuring the Bill of Materials (BOM) reflects the agreed changes.

Follow up diligently on print and embroidery costings to ensure timely submission.

Upon receiving the initial order, send the approved costing and contract to the Fabric Buyer to facilitate the bulk fabric order within set deadlines.

Source special trims, obtain cost-effective pricing from vendors, and submit for Buyer approval.

Ensure costings and contracts are sent to the Trims Buyer for bulk trim orders to be placed within deadlines.

Issue Print Panel and Embroidery Strike-Offs to vendors for Buyer approval.

Pre-production: Efficiently compile and issue the first fit sample pack to the sample room, ensuring all necessary information, fabric, and trims are available.

Check fit comments, issue re-rates after discussing with the Merchandiser, and notify Fabric and Trim Buyers of any changes.

Ensure off-bulk fabric and trims are delivered on time for pre-production sample packs.

Ensure pre-production samples are correct and submitted promptly for sealing.

Monitor changes that impact margin negatively and escalate to the Merchandiser to explore ways to improve the margin.

Liaise with vendors, buyers, and internal stakeholders on day-to-day issues.

Operate effectively under pressure and demonstrate a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines.
General Administration

Assist the Merchandiser in receiving and compiling new customer briefs.

Challenge the efficiency of systems and suggest improvements.

Maintain a neat and efficient workstation and filing system.

Follow up effectively and efficiently on strike-offs, approvals, and sample submissions.

Handle ad hoc queries efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience
-
1-2 years of experience as a Merchandise Assistant in a clothing design center environment.

Matric or equivalent qualification.
