Key Responsibilities

  • Populate cost cards and ensure accurate and complete costings up to the Price Proposal stage, meeting all deadline due dates

  • Take note of styling changes during the cost negotiation stage between the Merchandiser and Buyer, ensuring the Bill of Materials (BOM) reflects the confirmed changes

  • Follow up on print and embroidery costings to ensure timely submission within set deadlines

  • Upon receiving the initial order, send the approved costing and contract to the Fabric Buyer to enable bulk fabric orders within deadlines

  • Source special trims, send them to vendors to obtain the best price, and submit them for Buyer approval

  • Ensure costings and contracts are sent to the Trims Buyer to order bulk trims and allow timely placement of bulk trim orders

  • Issue print panels and embroidery strike-offs to vendors and submit them for Buyer approval

  • Pre-production: Compile and issue the first fit sample pack to the sample room, ensuring all necessary information, fabrics, and trims are available for execution

  • Check fit comments and issue re-rates, collaborating with the Merchandiser as necessary

  • Notify Fabric and Trim Buyers of any changes affecting the process

  • Ensure that off-bulk fabric and trims are delivered on time for pre-production sample pack issuance

  • Ensure pre-production samples are accurate and sent promptly for sealing

  • Identify any changes that negatively impact margins and immediately escalate to the Merchandiser for possible improvements

  • Maintain constant communication with vendors, buyers, and internal stakeholders to address day-to-day issues

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and perform effectively under time constraints

General Administration

  • Assist the Merchandiser with receiving and compiling new customer briefs

  • Challenge the efficiency of systems and propose improvements

  • Maintain an organized and efficient workstation and filing system

  • Follow up on strike-offs, approvals, and sample submissions

  • Handle ad hoc queries effectively and efficiently

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Merchandise Assistant in a clothing design center environment

  • Matric
