DisChem Vacancies – Merchandisers – Ring Road

Job Overview:

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for enthusiastic and detail-oriented Merchandisers to join our Ring Road store team. As a Merchandiser, you will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are met and maintained while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock Management: Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales and ensure that stock is stored and packed correctly.
  • Shelf Maintenance: Regularly check that stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date and ensure a full product range is available.
  • Stock Rotation: Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation to maintain product freshness.
  • Inventory Control: Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged goods, and expired stock to management.
  • Stocktaking: Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking.
  • Store Presentation: Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, including store layout and planograms, and ensure shelves are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
  • Product Knowledge: Keep up-to-date with current and new products, and ensure merchandising displays are well-maintained.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers, resolve stock queries, and follow up on out-of-stock requests.
  • Training: Assist with training new staff members as needed.
  • Uniform Compliance: Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
  • Health and Safety: Handle all merchandise carefully to minimize losses and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric
  • Experience: Up to 6 months of retail experience
  • Skills: Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Availability: Willing to work retail hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of retail experience
  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
  • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Bilingual abilities (advantageous)
  • Product and category knowledge

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, and adhere to health and safety standards
  • Reliable transport and/or residence in close proximity to the store
  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
