Dischem Vacancies – Merchandiser

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Merchandiser for our Boardwalk Mall – Summerstrand store. As a Merchandiser, your primary responsibility is to ensure that Dis-Chem’s basic merchandising standards are consistently executed and maintained, while also providing outstanding customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Up to 6 months of retail experience
    • Computer literate (MS Office)
    • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Advantageous:
    • At least 1 year of retail experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.
  • Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed in the correct place promptly.
  • Ensure stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date and that the full range of products is always available.
  • Facilitate stock rotation on a regular “First In, First Out” (FIFO) basis.
  • Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
  • Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
  • Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
  • Ensure merchandising displays are built, faced up, stocked, and maintained.
  • Assist with loading and off-loading stock and ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to all customers.
  • Assist in training new staff and follow up on customer stock queries.
  • Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
  • Minimize losses by handling all merchandise carefully.
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • Strong command of the English language.
    • Presentable with effective engagement skills.
    • Trustworthy, honest, and strong time management.
  • Advantageous:
    • Bilingual proficiency.
    • Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.
    • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for stock ordering and stocktaking.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.
  • Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Reliable transport or reside in close proximity to the store.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
