Sasol careers – Mechanical Foreman
Purpose of the Role
The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for providing direction, scheduling, and oversight to mechanical and electro-mechanical artisans. The role ensures the effective execution of maintenance activities, prioritizes workflow to meet deadlines, and achieves desired results while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, control, and manage operations/maintenance activities to maximize production output.
- Monitor and prioritize workflows to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
- Manage and control operational costs, ensuring effective use of equipment and resources.
- Evaluate and address abnormalities during emergencies to minimize downtime and prevent equipment damage or SHERQ incidents.
- Enforce compliance with operational and maintenance procedures for people and plant safety.
- Address performance issues, misconduct, and grievances promptly.
- Lead and motivate the team, ensuring adherence to company values and team wellness.
- Provide coaching and technical training to artisans, enabling career progression and competence declaration.
- Facilitate effective communication across management and stakeholder teams.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, process safety management, and legal SHERQ standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, root cause analyses, and manage work permits.
- Implement and monitor organizational change initiatives within the team.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment effectiveness and overall plant performance.
Qualifications
- Matric/N3 with Mathematics, English, and Physical Science.
- Mechanical Occupational Trade Certificate (Red Seal).
Experience
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical operations and maintenance.
