Purpose of the Job

As the Manager / Senior Specialist Capital Portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing capital portfolio processes to support strategic objectives. Your responsibilities include coordination, integration, and analysis to ensure effective capital management within Sasol Mining. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives under pressure and enjoys building robust stakeholder relationships in a governance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the capital budget process for August RCP and January budget cycles, including analysis and presentations to decision-makers.
  • Prepare and manage the Mining Capital Approval Forum (CAF), ensuring governance and compliance requirements are met.
  • Translate long-term Mining strategies into a viable project portfolio for the Rolling Capital Plan (RCP).
  • Engage with capital stream leads to align plans with operational goals and Mining complex strategies.
  • Support Mining’s contributions to Group Economic Models (GEMs) and ensure consistent principles are applied.
  • Collaborate with Sasol’s Group capital portfolio office and other internal stakeholders across operations, finance, cost modeling, and mine planning.
  • Develop standardized processes for capital risk management and prioritization in collaboration with the Mining risk partner.
  • Validate and introduce projects into the RCP, ensuring alignment with Sasol’s objectives.
  • Deliver formalized Gate 7 reviews for large projects to ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Provide portfolio reports and insights to senior management for decision-making.
  • Continuously improve capital planning and reporting systems for enhanced efficiency.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective portfolio management.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Engineering.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in financial or capital management, governance processes, and technical/industry exposure.
  • Proficient in SAP transactions, financial systems, and MS Office.

License:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
