MTN is seeking a General Manager – Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence (DACOE), Strategy and Innovation to lead the organization’s data strategy, drive innovation, and ensure seamless integration of data and analytics across all business functions. This role will focus on data governance, AI solutions, and leveraging analytics for business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and drive the Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence (DACOE) strategy.
  • Develop strategic data priorities aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the adoption of Data-as-a-Service, ensuring infrastructure meets business needs.
  • Identify new business opportunities through data-driven insights.
  • Provide a Big Data strategy and value framework in alignment with MTN’s overall vision.

Data Science and Advanced Analytics

  • Oversee data analytics capabilities and insights to drive business value.
  • Convert business requirements into data-driven strategies.
  • Manage data ownership, standardization, accessibility, and governance.
  • Implement analytics to assess and improve channel performance.
  • Promote the use of predictive modeling and real-time analytics.

Data Governance and Infrastructure

  • Establish a framework for data governance and compliance.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and reliability.
  • Oversee data infrastructure, architecture, and optimization for scalability.
  • Develop policies for knowledge sharing and compliance with regulatory standards.

AI Strategy and Operational AI Insights

  • Lead the development and deployment of AI and machine learning models to drive business growth.
  • Identify opportunities for AI-driven automation, customer insights, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure AI solutions follow ethical principles, including transparency and accountability.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into business applications.
  • Monitor AI performance and continuously optimize models for accuracy.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage budgets to maximize return on investment.
  • Optimize spending while aligning with strategic priorities.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Stay ahead of global trends, technologies, and best practices in data analytics and AI.
  • Research and implement cutting-edge data-driven solutions.
  • Integrate emerging market trends into long-term data strategies.

People and Culture Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing data and analytics team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Drive talent acquisition, development, and retention.
  • Set performance metrics and development plans for team members.
  • Promote diversity and equity within the department.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Sciences, Computer Science, IT, or Biological Sciences.
  • A Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in data analytics, AI, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years in senior management roles.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Expertise in data governance, AI technologies, business intelligence tools, and data integration.
  • Experience in enterprise-level AI implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy and regulatory compliance.
