Truworths Careers – Manager – Risk and Analytics

This role, based at our Head Office in Cape Town, offers the opportunity to leverage data and information to create customer strategies that drive profit within established constraints. As the Manager – Risk and Analytics, you will work within the Risk and Analytics department to enhance Truworths’ performance by providing data-driven insights, analyses, reports, and technical support for the development and implementation of credit risk strategies. This position requires a broad range of experience and strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist the team in achieving a balanced credit portfolio by accurately forecasting expected outcomes.
• Develop and implement champion/challenger customer strategies to deliver performance in line with Board expectations.
• Monitor portfolio performance and ensure it meets predefined KPIs, proactively suggesting changes when necessary.
• Investigate data integrity issues, test assumptions, and validate analytical results to ensure the accuracy of findings.
• Analyze the impact of strategy changes on areas such as application and account management strategies.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders through reports and presentations.
• Forecast and monitor the success of implemented strategies using statistical techniques.
• Project manage the integration of strategy changes into live systems.
• Possess coding experience, ideally within the retail industry.
• Maintain expertise in credit risk, including IFRS9, credit strategy rules, and risk registers.

Qualifications and Experience
• Relevant post-graduate degree with a focus on mathematical or statistical subjects preferred.
• Business Science Degree, B.Com, or equivalent.
• Over 8 years of experience in consumer credit within a credit risk analytics environment, with a demonstrated ability to implement solutions based on analytical findings.

Competencies
• Strong understanding of the credit life cycle.
• Experience with revolving store cards or credit cards is advantageous.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure within both structured and unstructured environments.
• Predictive analytics experience with a numerate background is advantageous.
• Capable of monitoring models and reporting back to the board.
• Provide mentorship, training programs, and support to help grow the team.
• High attention to detail, ensuring 100% accuracy.
• Strong integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience with SAS (Base, Enterprise Guide, or Viya) is highly advantageous.
