Pick n Pay Careers – Manager Bakery

Overview:

As the Manager Bakery, you will be responsible for maximizing turnover, minimizing shortages, and ensuring adherence to bakery standards, processes, and policies. Your role includes managing resources efficiently and upholding the highest quality and hygiene standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF 3 Bakery qualification
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Baker, Bakery Supervisor, or Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Merchandising Management:

  • Conduct regular quality checks on bakery merchandise
  • Execute merchandising plans and ensure adherence to product specifications
  • Maintain readiness of the bakery department by store opening time
  • Identify fast-selling lines and optimize margin and sales opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards
  • Oversee promotional activities and manage stock rotation
  • Maintain cleanliness and minimize waste throughout the day

Food Safety & Hygiene:

  • Uphold hygiene and housekeeping standards
  • Manage stock rotation and adhere to food safety regulations
  • Address non-conformances with effective corrective actions
  • Implement and monitor cleaning schedules and sanitation
  • Record daily food safety checks

Customer Service Management:

  • Respond to customer requests and queries
  • Assist with stock availability and replacement products
  • Maintain department standards and ensure equipment is operational

Staff Management:

  • Communicate critical information and set priorities for staff
  • Handle compliance issues and attend regional meetings
  • Manage Kronos scheduling and provide staff coaching

Administration:

  • Ensure equipment maintenance and general maintenance standards
  • Monitor waste and turnover, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure current and legible SEL for products
  • Conduct gap scanning, manage out-of-stock and over-stock issues
  • Utilize SAP for reporting and waste management
  • Regularly check electronic communications and process waste

Systems Management:

  • Identify and address stock concerns using SAP
  • Process IDTs and actions reduced-to-clear as per SOP
  • Ensure PID counts align with the National P&L schedule
