Pick n Pay Vacancies – Manager Bakery

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Manager Bakery to oversee our bakery operations, maximize turnover, and minimize shortages while adhering to company standards and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 3 Bakery Qualification
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Baker, Bakery Supervisor, or Bakery Manager

  • Customer-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Business-minded with a focus on bakery skills and production planning

Key Responsibilities:

Merchandising Management:

  • Conduct regular quality checks on merchandise
  • Execute merchandising plans and adhere to the plano guide 100%
  • Handle products according to SOPs
  • Ensure products meet recipe specifications
  • Prepare the department for trade by store opening time
  • Identify fast-selling items and evaluate their impact on margins and sales opportunities
  • Maintain sufficient product availability for customer demand
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards
  • Monitor and implement promotional activities according to the promotional calendar
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in backup areas
  • Follow sell-by dates and rotate stock as per policy/SOP

Food Safety & Hygiene:

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping
  • Ensure proper stock rotation
  • Monitor adherence to food safety and health standards
  • Manage non-conformances with effective corrective actions
  • Implement and check cleaning schedules
  • Record daily food safety checks

Customer Service Management:

  • Address customer requests and complaints
  • Provide information on out-of-stock items and assist with replacements
  • Maintain department standards and ensure equipment is operational

Staff Management:

  • Communicate key information and set targets for staff
  • Delegate tasks and ensure adherence to procedures and policies
  • Attend regional meetings and relay information to staff
  • Review and adjust Kronos scheduling
  • Coach and develop staff

Administration:

  • Ensure equipment is well-maintained
  • Monitor waste and turnover
  • Identify opportunities to increase turnover and address barriers to achieving budgets
  • Ensure all products have current and legible SEL

Systems Management:

  • Scan for out-of-stocks and manage inventory
  • Draw and analyze reports from SAP
  • Process IDTs and manage stock reductions according to SOP
  • Regularly check electronic communications
  • Process waste and ensure PID counts are accurate
