Tiger Brands Vacancies – Maintenance Manager

Job Overview:

As a Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the plant operates efficiently and mechanically at all times. You will lead maintenance planning, manage resources, and ensure the safety and reliability of equipment while fostering a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop and update planned maintenance schedules; sign off on completed tasks.
  • Conduct regular plant inspections and manage unplanned maintenance tasks.
  • Issue job cards and maintenance schedules for ongoing and emergency repairs.
  • Approve engineering spares, ensuring budget compliance.
  • Oversee and ensure quality maintenance on dedicated maintenance days.

CAPEX Budgeting:

  • Plan and manage the 5-year CAPEX budget based on plant needs.
  • Prepare and submit CAPEX motivations in line with Tiger Brands’ requirements.

People Management:

  • Foster a high-performance culture within the team.
  • Conduct regular employee engagements, including union interactions.
  • Identify and develop talent, addressing competency gaps through training and development.
  • Manage workplace discipline and resolve employee relations issues per company policies.

Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Ensure safe working conditions based on risk assessments and compliance with OHS-Act.
  • Promote environmental awareness, focusing on noise pollution, water usage, and waste management.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 14001 and FSCC 22000 standards.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure equipment settings align with SOPs and process checks.
  • Implement root cause analysis and preventative actions.
  • Conduct self-assessments on hygiene, sanitation, and allergen standards.

Audits & Compliance:

  • Oversee various audits, including engineering, risk, environmental (ISO 14001), DQS, and BMR.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Financial Management:

  • Manage maintenance budgets, spares inventory, and contractor relationships.
  • Develop cost-saving strategies and monitor cost drivers.
  • Report accurately on financial metrics, including cost per loaf (CPL) and stock movement.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Ensure the correct operation of specialized equipment (e.g., scaling weights, temperature control, mixer calibrations).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee DMS reporting and act on non-conformances.
  • Drive PM pillar implementation and safety initiatives, including LTIFR and near-miss reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within an FMCG environment.
  • Trade Test and N6 or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • Previous experience within bakeries is advantageous.
