Job Description
Overview:
As a Maintenance Coordinator, you will ensure that the plant remains mechanically operational at all times. Your role will involve maintenance planning, people management, adherence to safety and environmental standards, and managing budgets to optimize operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop and update planned maintenance schedules, ensuring timely sign-off on completed tasks.
  • Conduct plant inspections and issue job cards and unplanned maintenance schedules.
  • Approve engineering spares within budget and ensure quality maintenance is executed on designated maintenance days.

CAPEX Budgets:

  • Understand plant requirements and plan CAPEX budgets, including a 5-year strategic plan.
  • Prepare and submit CAPEX motivations in line with Tiger Brands’ requirements.

People Management:

  • Foster a high-performance culture through regular engagements with employees and union representatives.
  • Identify talent and address competency gaps with tailored development actions.
  • Ensure training and development are aligned with Personal Development Plans (PDPs).
  • Maintain workplace discipline and handle employee relations (ER) issues in accordance with company policies.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with the OHS Act through risk assessments.
  • Promote environmental consciousness within the manufacturing environment, focusing on resource conservation and pollution reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and FSCC 22000 standards.

Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee equipment settings as per SOPs, process alignment, and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive actions for quality issues.
  • Perform self-assessments on hygiene, cleaning, sanitation, traceability, and allergen standards.

Audits:

  • Prepare for and manage audits, including engineering, risk, environmental, and DQS audits.

Finance Management:

  • Understand cost drivers, manage maintenance budgets, and optimize contractor and spares inventory.
  • Develop cost-saving strategies and track Cost Per Loaf (CPL) variances to budget.
  • Manage stock movement and conduct stock takes with accurate reporting.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure specialized equipment is functioning correctly through calibration and adherence to SOPs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive implementation of the PM pillar of MECP and manage key performance metrics, including LTIFR, SBOs, and near misses.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Trade Test and N6 or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
    • Previous experience in bakeries is advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within the FMCG industry.
