Job Description:

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reputable Locum Pharmacist to join our team at the Nelspruit store. As a Locum Pharmacist, you will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe and effective use of medication, and taking full responsibility for meeting patients’ medicine-related needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pharmaceutical Care: Evaluate patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of therapy.
• Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications and scheduled substances as per prescriptions, while verifying the correctness of prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns.
• Patient Counseling: Provide detailed information and advice on medication usage, ensuring patient compliance with therapy.
• Medication Management: Oversee the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medications, and ensure the proper storage, distribution, and sale of pharmaceutical products.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to legal requirements as per the South African Pharmacy Council and ensure all activities comply with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
• Claims Processing: Accurately capture and submit claims to medical aids, address any rejections, and ensure the authorization of chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medications.
• Customer Service: Assist and advise patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop, ensuring all customer queries and issues are resolved efficiently.
• Inventory Management: Report low or out-of-stock items, participate in bi-annual stock takes, and ensure adherence to stock control processes.
• Administration Support: Assist the Dispensary Manager in completing administrative functions accurately and timely.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: BPharm or equivalent qualification.
• Experience: 2-3 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with retail pharmacy experience (student/intern).
• Licensure: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Skills: Proficient in MS Office, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant retail/FMCG experience.
• Proficiency in a third language.
• Experience with SAP, e-scripting, Unisolv, and as a registered tutor.

Competencies:

• Strong command of English and a second language.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage conflicts, train staff, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Computer literate, with a strong understanding of dosing, drug interactions, and customer service.
