 Job Description:

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Qualified Locum Clinic Practitioner to join our team in Foreshore. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within the scope of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric and a Tertiary qualification in General Nursing.
  • Additional Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Midwifery.
  • Licensure: Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Practitioner.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Registration: Must obtain BHF registration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Practitioner.
  • Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinic Operations: Perform duties in accordance with industry regulations and best practices. Manage the average “feet-per-hour” rate, setting clinic objectives to enhance patient care and clinic profitability.
  • Patient Care: Ensure all clinic services are available and maintain accurate patient records. Follow up on patient communications and provide excellent care.
  • Claims Processing: Process claims accurately and promptly in line with industry standards.
  • Stock Management: Ensure that all stock and equipment are maintained and operational. Keep clinic stock at optimal levels according to business needs.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain healthy relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, community stakeholders, and other healthcare providers.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • In-depth knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, and related areas including family planning, cytology, IUDs, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care.
    • Strong command of English, both written and oral.
    • Understanding of the financial impact of meeting or failing to meet monthly targets.
    • Strong analytical skills related to clinic statistics and commissions.
    • High emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, integrity, and honesty.
    • Ability to manage both team and self, with strong self-direction and motivation.
    • Effective time management skills.
  • Advantageous:
    • Bilingual abilities.
    • Knowledge of business objectives.
    • Additional training such as Baby Immunisation Course, Family Planning Course, Primary Health Care Course, Breastfeeding Course, and Disease Management Course.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours.
  • Physical fitness and health to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
