Dischem Vacancies – Locum Clinic Practitioner

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a qualified Locum Clinic Practitioner to join our team in Paarl. As a Locum Clinic Practitioner, you will manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located within a pharmacy. The role involves providing health care services within the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
    • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • BHF registration for the nursing practitioner
    • 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Practitioner
    • Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Advantageous:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Practitioner
    • Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform Clinic Practitioner duties according to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Manage the average “feet-per-hour” rate and set clinic objectives to enhance patient care.
  • Ensure the clinic is open and operational according to the stated hours.
  • Keep accurate records of patient details and follow up on communication as needed.
  • Process claims accurately and in a timely manner according to industry standards.
  • Ensure all stock and equipment in the clinic are in working condition.
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders, including patients, store and dispensary managers, medical aids, suppliers, community role players, and other healthcare professionals.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, and occupational health nursing.
    • Strong command of English (written and oral).
    • Strong analytical skills related to monthly clinic statistics and commission.
    • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthy, and honest.
    • Ability to manage a team, work independently, and be self-motivated.
    • Effective time management skills.
  • Advantageous:
    • Bilingual proficiency.
    • Knowledge of business objectives and industry best practices.
    • Certifications such as Baby Immunisation Course, Family Planning, Primary Health Care Course, Breastfeeding Course, or Disease Management.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.
  • Physically fit to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
