Job Description:

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand is seeking a dynamic Learning and Development Manager to join their HR team. The key focus of this role is to lead the development and implementation of learning and development strategies across Retail, Distribution Centers (DC), and Security. The successful candidate will drive the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning initiatives that align with the company’s business objectives, ensuring the growth and sustainability of organizational talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned with Dis-Chem’s business objectives. Lead Learning Partners and stakeholders to deliver impactful learning solutions, incorporating innovative and digital tools.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure all L&D activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and national regulations, including BBBEE and skills development legislation. Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with sector-specific requirements.
  • Learning Needs Analysis: Conduct and lead annual Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) to align with talent development and business objectives. Prioritize and validate development needs with key stakeholders.
  • Learning Solution Design & Development: Oversee the creation of innovative, scalable blended learning solutions that align with Dis-Chem’s values and goals. Collaborate with stakeholders to design and enhance talent pipeline programs and onboarding processes.
  • Learning Delivery & Evaluation: Manage the delivery of all learning programs, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and quality standards. Implement evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor on L&D matters. Drive a high-performance culture through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate reporting of L&D activities, compliance with regulatory requirements, and administration of learning initiatives. Contribute to Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR).
  • Budget Management: Oversee the L&D budget for Retail, DC, and Security, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and strategic priorities. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Continued Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends and best practices. Support the professional growth of the L&D team and foster a culture of continuous learning within the organization.
  • People Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to the Learning Partners, promoting a high-performance culture. Develop and mentor team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and opportunities to excel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in learning and development.
    • 3 years of managerial experience.
  • Advantageous:
    • Post-graduate degree in a relevant field or ETDP.
    • Experience in the Retail/FMCG/Logistics industry.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, Skills Development Act, BBBEE, ODETDP, and ADDIE process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP SuccessFactors, SETA Systems, and Articulate/Storyline.
  • Excellent decision-making, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and manage diverse teams effectively.
