A position is available for an experienced Leading/Senior Firefighter in the Western Cape within the Fidelity Group. This role involves responding to fire-related incidents, conducting emergency rescue operations, providing basic medical care, and performing fire prevention and training activities. The role also includes operating and maintaining firefighting equipment to protect lives and property.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire incidents, rescues, and other emergency situations.
- Manage hazardous substance incidents and provide necessary intervention.
- Carry out emergency extrications and provide basic medical treatment.
- Operate firefighting equipment to control and extinguish fires.
- Conduct fire protection duties to safeguard lives and property.
- Participate in training drills, simulations, and physical fitness programs.
- Train employees on fire safety practices and procedures.
- Provide recommendations for fire prevention and corrective actions.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of firefighting equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain accurate reports and logs of daily occurrences.
- Participate in workplace health and safety committee meetings.
- Operate heavy and specialized firefighting vehicles and equipment.
- Assist in fire safety inspections, life safety education, and training programs.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Supervise and mentor junior firefighters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- IFSAC Accredited.
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification.
- Minimum 2–3 years of firefighting experience.
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
- Advanced driving experience (advantageous).
- EMT certification and First Aid Levels 1–3.
- Hazmat experience and knowledge.
- Medically and physically fit.
- Strong understanding of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.
- Clear criminal record.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous materials and emergency response guidelines.
- Familiarity with security industry regulations and code of conduct.
- Ability to act decisively in emergency situations.
- Strong leadership and training capabilities.
