Tiger Brands Vacancies – Lead Accountant (Bakeries)

Tiger Brands is looking for a skilled Lead Accountant (Bakeries) to oversee the financial reporting and performance of a designated business unit. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial records in compliance with IFRS while providing leadership and oversight to a team of accountants.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and complete general ledger accounts, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management and audit packs.
  • Review financial data from site cost accountants and shared services center (SSC) accountants for reporting.
  • Develop annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and weekly profit estimates based on sound financial assumptions.
  • Implement and maintain financial systems and internal controls.
  • Authorize journal entries and approve reconciliations.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date fixed asset register.
  • Address queries and provide financial insights and support as needed.
  • Train, develop, and motivate accounting staff to ensure high performance.
  • Oversee annual insurance renewal submissions.
  • Review and approve electronic payments to suppliers.
  • Attend stock counts and report findings per standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • CIMA, CA, or B.Com Honours in Accounting.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Business analytical skills with a solid finance background.
  • Proficiency in financial software applications, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments.
  • 5–7 years of experience, including 2–3 years in financial accounting (FMCG experience preferred).
